Highness The Duke
of York Visits
Procter & Gamble
at Brooklands |
Weybridge, 07th
February 2005 , His
Royal Highness, The Duke of
York today visited P&G UK headquarters
at Brooklands in support of
the company’s work with
the Surrey Community Foundation.
In his role as Special Representative
for international trade
and investment, HRH was
given an insight into P&G as
a global business operating
within the UK and its links
with the local community.
HRH was met by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey , Mrs Sarah
Goad and introduced to local dignitaries including the Mayor
of Elmbridge, Councillor Martin Schofield and Mr Philip Hammond,
MP for Runnymede and Weybridge.
During the hour long visit, Gianni Ciserani, Vice President
and Managing Director of P&G UK and Ireland , and other
employees introduced The Duke of York to the company’s business
and culture. HRH gained an understanding of P&G’s role
both in world markets and the local community. He heard about
P&G’s marketing operations from the marketing team and
then met with those involved in P&G’s Community Matters programme,
in particular people working
with the Surrey Community Foundation. The visit concluded with
an overview of P&G’s sustainability
efforts when HRH was given
a demonstration on PuR water treatment technology and how it
has been used in the recent Tsunami disaster.
P&G was nominated for the royal visit as a result of
its involvement with the Surrey
Community Foundation, of which it is a founding sponsor. Community
Foundations are independent business-led organisations set
up to broker charitable giving by businesses and individuals
to meet the needs of those most in need. The Surrey Community
Foundation is part of a rapidly growing network of foundations
across the world.
Tricia Dodds, Community Matters Manager at P&G said “We
recognize the value of Community
Foundations and are delighted
to be involved with the launch of the Surrey Foundation. We
look forward to working with them as they set off in pursuit
of their goal to become a £2 million charity over the next
three years.”
At the end of the visit, Gianni Ciserani said “It was an
honour to host The Duke of York today and see such great support
from HRH for our work with the local community in Surrey .”
